The KrAZ C20.2R dump truck was first demonstrated to the Russian public at the International Specialized Salon "Construction Equipment and Technologies-2012", held in Moscow in late May - early June 2012. Even then, the car attracted special attention of visitors to the exhibition, receiving from them the nickname of the Kremenchug "European".

KrAZ C20.2R is a large-capacity dump truck with a cab-over-engine layout and a 6×4 wheel arrangement. The truck is designed for the transport of bulk and bulk cargo on paved roads, in particular from crushed stone and cobblestone, as well as dirt roads.

Indeed, KrAZ C20.2R has a European appearance that looks modern and attractive. This is ensured by installing the Renault Kerax cab, which has high ergonomic indicators of the driver's seat: a steering column adjustable in height and reach, a comfortable seat with air suspension, a functional dashboard, excellent visibility and high degree vibration and noise protection.

All this together provides the driver with comfort and low fatigue, and also makes it possible to increase driving safety and labor productivity.

The KrAZ C20.2R power unit consists of a six-cylinder in-line turbocharged YaMZ-6511 diesel engine with a volume of 11.12 liters and a power of 362 horsepower at 1900 rpm, delivering 1765 Nm of peak torque at 1200 rpm.
It is aggregated with a 9-speed 2-range manual transmission 9JS200TA, which receives torque from a single-plate clutch MFZ-430.

The car is equipped with a 250-liter fuel tank, and for a hundred kilometers it needs 35 liters of fuel.
The passport maximum speed is 80 km/h.

The KrAZ C20.2R dump truck is equipped with a dependent front suspension and a balancing rear suspension on two semi-elliptical springs. The steering mechanism is applied integral type with built-in hydraulic booster. The brake system is dual-circuit with a separate pneumatic drive, the brake mechanisms are drum-type with internal pads both front and rear.

The overall dimensions of the KrAZ C20.2R are not small, but quite familiar for vehicles of this class: length - 7900 mm, width - 2543 mm, height - 3210 mm. The turning radius is 8.7 meters. With a curb weight of 13,020 kg, the truck is capable of carrying 20 tons of cargo. Its gross weight is 33,200 kg.
The dump truck is equipped with tubeless tires with increased load capacity of dimension 315/8 R22.5.

A few words about the body: KrAZ C20.2R is equipped with a 14-cubic semi-circular tipper platform, which is made of high-strength wear-resistant steel produced by the Austrian metallurgical company Voestalpine. Used telescopic hydraulic lift company Binotto.

The Kremenchug "European", aka KrAZ C20.2R, is a successful combination of Ukrainian power and reliability with European quality.

Holding Company "AvtoKrAZ" traditionally held the fifth Auto Show "KrAZ-2009" on June 28, 2009 in Kremenchug.

Within the framework of the auto show, an exposition was organized, which includes serial cars produced by the Kremenchug Automobile Plant, cars with special add-ons that other enterprises install at KrAZ trucks, retro cars and the KrAZ-Krazy show stopper.


The "star" of the auto show in 2009 was a new promising dump truck KrAZ C20.0 (6x4) with a payload capacity of 20 tons with a cab-over-engine layout. The new frame-panel cab is an original development of the KrAZ designers. The dump truck is equipped with a YaMZ-6501.10 (Euro 3) engine, an MFZ 430 single-plate clutch and a 9JS200TA gearbox. It has a new design of the balancer suspension of the rear wheels, a new front axle, an integral steering mechanism and a number of other design changes that were not previously used on KrAZ vehicles. The new cab has a high ergonomics of the driver's workplace, a modern new instrument panel, designed for the installation of various engines, including V-shaped, adapted for the installation of steering on the right.



The appearance on the square of a new cabover dump truck KrAZ C20.0, immediately after the end of the press conference, made a splash. The solemn procession of the new truck was greeted with thunderous applause and joyful exclamations from the guests of the exhibition, numerous camera flashes of journalists who had come from different CIS countries.



Among the novelties of the 2009 model range are the KrAZT17.0EX Burlak tractor with a 6x6 wheel formula, the KrAZ-S18.0 Gornyak dump truck (6x4) and the KrAZ-N30.0 EX (8x6) chassis.

The new truck tractor KrAZT17.0EX "Burlak" has a more powerful power unit, which significantly improves the traction characteristics of the car: an eight-cylinder YaMZ-6581.10-06 Euro3 engine with a capacity of 400 hp (cf. KrAZ-6446: YaMZ-238DE2 with a capacity of 330 hp ) and a nine-speed gearbox YaMZ-2391.

The car is capable of transporting cargo by a semi-trailer weighing 65 tons, with a maximum load on the saddle of 17 tons (cf. KrAZ-6446: the gross weight of the semi-trailer is 34 tons, the load on the saddle is 11 tons). Instead of a mechanical one, an integral type steering mechanism with a built-in hydraulic booster was used, which reduces the force on the steering wheel to 8 kgf

The dump truck KrAZS18.0 "Gornyak" is a deep modernization of KrAZ-65055, has an increased carrying capacity of 18 tons, is equipped with a powerful six-cylinder Cummins ISLe 375 30 Euro3 engine and a nine-speed gearbox 9JS150TA-B with creeping gear. The use of this power unit significantly increased the traction characteristics of the car when working in difficult conditions. The rear suspension has also been modernized: without a balancer axle, the 4th cross member of the frame has been reinforced, which made it possible to increase the load capacity from 15 to 18 tons by increasing the load on the rear bogie and increase the reliability of the vehicle. Platform with an elongated canopy, has a volume of 12 m3, reinforced bottom and sidewalls.

The new powerful KrAZN30.0EX 8x6 chassis has a load capacity of 30 tons and is equipped with an eight-cylinder YaMZ-6581.10-06 Euro 3 engine with a power of 400 hp. (KrAZ-63221 YaMZ-238DE2 330hp, gearbox YaMZ-2381 and clutch YaMZ-183), single-plate clutch and gearbox YaMZ-2391, clutch YaMZ-184, gearbox - YaMZ-2391 with creeping gear. This combination improves the traction and dynamic characteristics of the car. The chassis has first and fourth steered axles, and 1,2 and 3 driven axles. Mounting length of the frame is increased by 1740 mm due to the addition of a controlled axle behind the bogie. The steering mechanism of the integral type, instead of mechanical, it allows you to reduce the effort on the steering wheel to 10 kgf, which significantly reduces driver fatigue.

The novelties have a new designation system introduced by the holding company "AvtoKrAZ" for new models of KrAZ vehicles. It is less detailed than the old one, introduced in 1996, and more meaningful.

To attract buyers, especially those who have a low budget, Kremenchug designers have developed the so-called budget car KrAZ-65055-038-02, which, having retained all the qualities of the best-selling model of the KrAZ-65055-054-02 dump truck, by optimizing the design below its value.

The guests of the exhibition were also able to see the dump truck KrAZ-65055 (6x4) with a carrying capacity of 18 tons with a deep level of cabin modernization, with improved sound insulation, a new instrument panel with a seat with heating and pneumatic control, and a height-adjustable steering column. In addition, the dump truck is equipped with a YaMZ-7511 turbocharged diesel engine with a capacity of 400 hp.

Among the serial samples at the exhibition were presented the dump truck KrAZ-65032-064-02 (16 cubic meters), the all-terrain vehicle KrAZ-6322-016-02 "Soldier", KrAZ-64372-044-02 (050-02), KrAZ-6233M6 , KrAZ-6233R4 concrete mixer truck (7 cubic meters), KrAZ-65053 onboard truck with hydraulic manipulator and KrAZ-5233N2 (AC-40) fire engine.

The car is remarkable in many ways. “First of all, it has a layout scheme that is new for Kremenchug machines – cabover,” says S.Vasechek, chief designer of AvtoKrAZ Holding Company. – It was worked out by us on an experimental dump truck KrAZ-7238С4 with a MAN cab manufactured last year. This helped to create a qualitatively different car KrAZ-S20.0. Compared to its predecessor, it has a new engine, transmission, drive axles and suspension. The original cabin, on which we have been working for two and a half years, is also completely new.” This machine is only the first sign: a whole family of cabover KrAZ trucks is being developed, which includes dump trucks, chassis for special equipment, military vehicles, and so on.

They decided to make the C20.0 cabin frame-panel, that is, with a steel frame on which plastic panels are hung. The advantage of this design is that it allows you to quickly set up production, and without powerful and expensive presses, expensive stamping equipment required for all-steel welded cabins. In addition, by replacing individual panels, but leaving the old frame, it is possible to change the appearance of the cabin without great expense. The frame-panel cabin does not need to be painted on the outside - the paint is already embedded in the surface layer of plastic.

So there can be no talk of any chipped paint and scratches. The cabin was created in the ProEngineer volumetric design system. Therefore, the manual labor of modelers is not used here - all surfaces are worked out by a computer. The resulting three-dimensional models were transferred to special machines, which were used to make master models. According to the master models, in turn, reverse matrices were made, on which individual parts of the cabin were cast. The entire process of manufacturing panels took place independently of the operator and therefore was guaranteed to be protected from it. possible error. As a result, the panels are made very precisely, and the assembly of the first cabin was surprisingly easy.

Welding the cabin frame was also a simple matter: the frame is much simpler than today's mass-produced machines. Of course, the cab will still have to be “conjured”, in particular, to reduce the weight of the frame and work out the technology of gluing the outer panels. But today it can be argued that the design was a success. Cabin design was developed by AvtoKrAZ specialists. The future design was discussed more than once at the technical council of the plant. As a result, the exterior was approved. True, the model was considered on a scale of 1: 5 - computer graphics. And when a full-size sample of the cabin was made, then, of course, there was a need to refine something. And this is already being done.

It is important that the family features of the brand are noticeable in the appearance of the C20.0. Indeed, if you look at this car strictly from the front and squint your eyes slightly, then we will see, as it were, a frontal projection of a serial bonneted KrAZ - with its characteristic radiator grille. There is continuity! The cabin is bright and spacious. The motor tunnel, although not high, is wide and voluminous. The fact is that they decided to make it, so to speak, with a margin for engines of different sizes, including V-shaped ones. After all, YaMZ diesel engines do not suit all customers, especially abroad.

Taking into account the peculiarities of a number of foreign markets, the cab design also provides for the possibility of installing the steering wheel not only on the left, but also on the right. Cabin ergonomics are well thought out. A multi-stage calculation of the driver's workplace was applied using the largest, 95 percent dummy. The designers took care of the convenience of the driver with the controls and visibility, softness, low vibration load and much more. For safety reasons, the power frame of the cabin is endowed with a solid margin of safety.

The cargo platform is almost the same as on its predecessor - the cabover KrAZ-7238C4. During the year it was intensively exploited in the Poltava mining quarry, and the design of the 15 cubic meters of the body justified itself. It has a semicircular cross section, top harness and power belt in the tipping zone. So only minor changes have been made to the platform. A power unit of the YaMZ-650 series is installed on the dump truck. This is a licensed Renault DCi 11, which is assembled in Russia, in Tutaev. Let us clarify that in this Russian city today there are two engine factories. One of them has a long history and produces Yaroslavl-designed engines.

But the second, new assembly, just produces diesel engines in the French image and likeness - the 650 family. These are modern 11-liter in-line units equipped with a Common Rail injection system from Bosch. Engines comply with Euro-3 environmental standards in force in the Russian Federation. But the level of Euro-4 is also achievable. These power units are available in several modifications. On the new Kremenchug cable car, the 362-strong version of the YaMZ-6501.10 was used. But engine power can be increased to 412 hp. - it all depends on its settings. Paired with the named diesel engine, the Kremenchug designers decided to use the Eaton Fuller gearbox.

The dump truck shown at the auto show was equipped with a 12-speed gearbox of this brand. But in general, it is planned to use a 9-speed model 9JS200TA. This is a good, quite modern design, fully synchronized, dual-band. The front axle of the C20.0 machine is new, designed for a load of 8 tons with an integral type steering mechanism. The highlight of the chassis is the new balanced rear suspension. It lacks the “curved axis” characteristic of the previous design. Instead, the balancers with springs are mounted on cantilever trunnions, and the balancer brackets are connected by a separate rod.

Such a suspension allows the dump truck to operate at a normal load of 25 tons, but it can withstand more. The new KrAZ C20.0 dump truck is equipped with axles developed by Kremenchug specialists. Recall that on last year's experimental cabover KrAZ-7238C4, the bridges were purchased - manufactured by the Chinese company FAW. It was a pure experiment to study their behavior in our conditions. After testing the car, they decided to use bridges of their own design - mastered in production and very reliable.

Purpose car - dump truck KrAZ S20.2M with MAN cabin - transportation of loose and bulk cargoes both on paved roads (cobblestone and crushed stone) and on dirt roads. The car is designed to work in various climatic conditions. A distinctive feature of this model is the new cab-over-engine layout. The MAN cab is equipped with a comfortable seat, a steering column adjustable in angle and height, and a functional instrument panel. This configuration provides high ergonomic performance of the cab, comfort and low driver fatigue at the workplace. The cab design allows the installation of both in-line and V-shaped engines.

Dump truck KrAZ С20.2M equipped with a new platform of increased rigidity with a semicircular bottom section, which is driven by a tipping mechanism with a front telescopic hydraulic lift.
