Sincerely, the staff of the company "Astrea-Radiodetali".

Greetings dear friends, my name is Vladimir Vasiliev and today I have prepared something interesting for you. Each radio amateur in his practice constantly resorts to the help of various reference books: these are reference books of transistors, diodes, resistors and other details. Of course, at present, the Internet helps us in this, and therefore collecting a large library of reference books has become less relevant.

But still, there are times when the Internet may not be at hand and the interface in the book guide is not very friendly, it is stupidly not convenient to use it. Particularly inconvenient to read electronic books on the computer.

In such not rare cases, an electronic amateur radio handbook can help us. And you will learn about what this program is - a guide by reading this article to the end.

However, do not forget to subscribe to new updates, as the information on my blog is constantly updated and in the future, without this simple trick, it will be difficult to follow the flow of my consciousness 🙂

So, for convenience, I have prepared the content for you, so use it to your health!

pom Nu, when I was still studying, it seems that it was the second year, my classmates and I often shared with each other different software, desktop wallpapers and everything that might be of interest to a simple student. We passed all this goodness to each other on floppy disks, cut them into discs (USB flash drives were not so common then, and their volume was not large). But the coolest thing was when a friend came to visit with his hard drive - that was expanse.

That's how I remember now one of my groupmates, Vital, came with his screw and threw me all sorts of things - various software, including amateur radio. So, Vitalya, if you are reading this article, then a big hello to you and thanks for the software!

So, among this amateur radio software there was also a radio amateur's guide about which I want you, dear readers, to tell you in detail.

What is a radio amateur's handbook?

A handbook for a radio amateur is, first of all, a convenient program that contains reference data on a large number of semiconductor radio elements. Among all the variety, you can find information on such radio components as:

  • transistors (bipolar, field)
  • diodes
  • optoelectronic devices (optocouplers, IR emitting diodes, various indicators)
  • thyristors (pulse, lockable, optocoupler, etc.)
  • analog microcircuits (operational amplifiers, comparators, etc.)
  • digital microcircuits

In other words, a radio amateur's guide is an electronic guide that includes: a guide to transistors, a guide to diodes, thyristors, microcircuits and many other radio components.

Where to download and how to install?

Although this guide for a long time was on my computer, however, I found it on one of the torrent trackers. And now you can download this guide to radio components using the torrent link, prepared especially for you. I hope most of my readers know how to use the mtorrent program, so there should be no problems.

When you download, you will have two files on hand.

These are disk image files, and you can’t just open them like that. First you need to install this image on a virtual drive. In other words, you need to use virtual programs such as: DAEMON Tools, Alcohol, Nero or UltraISO. These programs themselves create a virtual drive and create the illusion that you have another CD-ROM.

Total Commander (a special hacker assembly) copes with this task for me, one of these programs is built right into it. As a result, a virtual drive with the letter H was created on my computer (Oh my God, some miracles, where did it come from? 🙂) and we can observe the contents.

What is

Let's now figure out what kind of program this is and what it is. Therefore, we click on the main exe-shnik, on the menu.exe file and see what's inside.

We immediately see a window divided into several items, these items are sections of the directory

Sections of the program - a reference book of radio components

By clicking on the section Semiconductors No. 1, we will open such a window.

And with the naked eye it becomes clear what is here and why. We are presented with several tabs: bipolar transistors, field-effect transistors, diodes, optoelectronics and thyristors.

The bipolar transistors tab gives you the freedom to choose according to the parameters that interest us. At our disposal are such characteristics as power, type of conductivity, frequency. Well, you can choose which transistor we are looking for, ordinary, composite, or some other.

Now we press the "output" button and observe all the variety that fell out on you overnight.

“And Che is this and how to figure it out?” - some Vasya, Petya, Kolya will immediately ask in the forehead. Indeed, the sample is very large. I cropped the screenshot a little for the article, and so the picture turned out to be impressive. The table brought us all the transistors contained in the database that satisfy the criteria we have chosen.

This does not suit us, because we need any one specific transistor for our very specific purposes. So do not be sad because the entire result of this table is easy to adjust and filter using the "search". This search is located above the table, where the list of tabs is located, so we immediately make an unrestrained click.

And here we can continue the search for the desired transistor. We have at our disposal a search by the name of the transistor, by its foreign analogues. We can also sort the table by technical specifications. So having selected the desired element, let's say 2T117A, we move to the "table" tab. As a result, the table will be filled with only transistors with the name 2T117A. Among them will be the desired 2T117A and 2T117B and 2T117V, etc.

And now we do a feint with our ears and click on the “dimensions” tab and Oh-oh-oh-p-la.

We have information about the dimensions of the transistor, in my opinion, now we have comprehensive information about the 2T117A transistor, we have its dimensions and its technical characteristics. Everything, it remains to purchase the transistor itself and solder it where necessary.

But that's not all.

There are times when jewelry sorting is required for a certain range of parameters. And for this case, the program has such a function as selection by parameters.

With an exact click on the tab, we return to the search window and there, under the selection window by the name of the element, there is an inconspicuous “selection by parameters” button.

This button hides the window for selecting transistors by parameters. Here you can search by a group of parameters of interest. You can also very clearly adjust the search range for specific parameters. Not bad right?

We examined the principle of working with a reference book of radio components using the example of transistors. How to work with other types of semiconductors can also be easily figured out using the scientific poke method.

Semiconductors #2

To be honest, I did not quite understand how this section of semiconductors differs from the one we considered earlier. Because by clicking on the “semiconductors No. 2” item, a window will open almost the same as we saw earlier, where we could see the tabs for selecting transistors, diodes or thyristors.

Of course, maybe a slightly different base of components is sewn up there, I don’t know, I didn’t understand. One thing I know for sure is that there the search is carried out a little differently. When you click the "search" tab, a window will open.

Here, in my opinion, are all the differences, so choose which section of semiconductors to use for yourself, I settled on the first option.

Analog ICs

We leave semiconductors behind and begin our analysis of the section of analog microcircuits. And a familiar window will open before us, but the information here is already given for microcircuits. The title of the window says “Analog microcircuits for audio equipment”, which is natural, because analog microcircuits, for example, operational amplifiers, are used in audio equipment.

Okay, this is all lyrics and we need to figure out how to look for analog microcircuits in this electronic reference book.

In short, we choose what we opened this window for. Let our choice fall on operational amplifiers for general use, so put a tick in the right place and press the "Select" key.

And as in the case of transistors, the table gave us countless microcircuits. But here this result is also amenable to correction.

By clicking on the search tab here you can also enter the information of interest to us. Everything here is exactly the same as in the case of transistors, so we will not dwell on this.

Separately, I would like to tell you about the tabs "dimensions" and "switching on". The switching circuit is added by a specialist for analog microcircuits for greater information content.

Let's say our choice fell on the K153UD501 operational amplifier chip, and right there we can evaluate its dimensions and see how to include it in the circuit, which strapping scheme corresponds to it.

Microcircuits for TV-video equipment

Now let's pay attention to microcircuits used for TV-video equipment.

These microcircuits also have their own selection window, and there are plenty to choose from here. The window is divided into chips for television equipment and chips used in video recorders.

For example, chips for television equipment are broken down by the systems to which they belong or where they should be in the equipment:

  • in color channel
  • video amplifiers
  • in switching circuits
  • in remote control units
  • in satellite television systems
  • in teletext systems
  • in the radio channel
  • in sweep nodes and synchronization circuits
  • in power systems
  • digital microcircuits
  • for tuners

Something like this, select what you need and press the familiar "Output" button. I chose the item "in the color channel" and got a familiar table, only already filled with microcircuits for television equipment.

The table is familiar to us, but here there are tabs that seemed interesting to me. Among them there is a familiar tab "Dimensions", besides it there are also tabs "Structural diagram" and "Add. information".

And here, for example, what information is there for the selected µPC1366C video modulator chip:

We can look at its block diagram and not guess how it is arranged inside. Next, we can estimate its dimensions and see Additional information about the microchip.

Hmm, it turns out interesting, they wanted to get the dimensions themselves overall dimensions somehow not. Probably because the bourgeois microcircuit is somehow not thought out anyway.

For VCR microcircuits, everything is the same, but is it interesting that VCRs are now used? And by the way, microcircuits can always be found where to apply.

Digital ICs #1

Here we are talking about digital microcircuits, of which we have two sections as semiconductors, but for now we will focus on only one. So let's see what the window is like.

The window opens and you can immediately see how the selection is made. You can choose either by series - this tab is enabled by default, or by functionality. This will tell us the window if we select the appropriate tab.

And no matter what selection method you choose, the result will be the same as we saw earlier - a table will open. But we can always adjust the search using the search tab. We will take all the technical information about the parameters that is important for us in the table, and to see the diagram or dimensions, we click on the desired tab - it's simple.

And for example, for the KS531LI1 microcircuit, the characteristics will be as follows:

Overall dimensions and scheme:

Digital ICs #2

I looked at this section, poked into different tabs - everything is arranged in exactly the same way. Of course, the choice of digital microcircuits in section No. 1 from section No. 2 may differ, so we proceed as follows. If in one section you did not find any microcircuit, then do not despair and humbly stomp into the second section. After all, when there is a choice, it is always good.

I honestly wanted to tell you more about how to use this electronic guide in practice, but now it will be superfluous information. All that I wanted to tell everything in the examples.

Pros and cons

From my experience of using this program, I can say that it has a lot of pluses.

does not require installation- you can use it immediately after opening it on a virtual drive and not bother with various settings;

mobile- since it does not require installation, you can copy it to a USB flash drive and carry it with you anywhere, even for couples, even for work. It weighs about 600 MB, but what is the amount of memory for modern flash drives?;

Ease of use- I think you appreciated this point when we analyzed the interface of the reference program;

and I think each of you will find something of your own in it.

Sadly, but this program also has disadvantages:

no manufacturer support- no matter how I tried to find the website of the manufacturers of this program, all my attempts were in vain, apparently this product is no longer being developed;

there are mistakes— this minus will remain in my memory for a long time. When writing a graduation project, I constantly used this program, but when assembling the device layout, something didn’t work out very well.

It turned out that the pinout of the conclusions of the operational amplifier used by me in this reference book did not correspond to reality. I had to tinker enough before I managed to find the truth. On the other hand, errors can also be found in any other reference book, so I believe that only the official documentation for the radio component can have the most truthful information. In any case, friends, be careful!

Well, everything that I wanted to tell you about the electronic handbook of the radio amateur, I said. So guys and girls, if you have any questions, be sure to ask them in the comments.

Well, friends, and that's all for today. Therefore, right now, click on the subscribe link, then you will always be aware of new articles.

And that’s really all for me, it’s already dark outside the window, and I already want to sleep.

I wish you friends success in business and a wonderful sunny mood!
