Photographer Igor Kovchegin admits: I fell in love with photography while still in college., and since then the love for this art form has not left him.

In the genre of wedding photography I have been working for about eight years, the last two years mainly as a private wedding photographer. Over the years, I have managed not only to master the technical skills of working with a variety of digital and film photographic equipment, but also acquired invaluable knowledge in the field of working with people, organization and aesthetics of wedding decoration.

I continue to explore the world around me, learn and improve. For the past three years, I have also run my own business, manufacturing stylish wedding accessories. But film photography remains my main passion.

I am close to the fine art approach, which is to create beautiful, holistic history, a timeless story captured in carefully crafted and thoughtful photographs, each a small work of art. What I love most is shooting elegant, romantic weddings.

I work with my wife Anna, who helps me and inspires me. We love to travel and dream of our own home in a picturesque corner of the planet, where we can fully devote ourselves to family, photography and our business.”

Photographer Malvina Frolova: “I started photography in 2007, first as a hobby, and then for several years I worked with modeling agencies and took tests. In 2013, I started shooting weddings. Fine art turned out to be the most congenial genre for me, because aesthetics, refinement, attention to detail and originality each individual frame is exactly what I consider the most important aspects of wedding photography in general. Fine art in my understanding is a timeless thing that will never go out of fashion and will be understood even in 30 years.

Photographer Julia Kaptelova specializes in wedding and portrait series. It helps her to be in demand in the countries of Europe and the world art education- thanks to him, Yulia easily manages to catch the right light, build a frame and tell the story of lovers in an original artistic language.

"I I live what I love, weddings for me are not a job, but a lifestyle, unique stories that I experience with my couples. The opportunity to tell about one of the most important days in the life of loving people is a great responsibility, but also an even greater happiness! I am inspired by the couples I work with, their sincere emotions and feelings, the happiness that fills their eyes!

“My name is Elina and I take pictures. In my work I value people and their stories first of all; I am endlessly inspired by light and air, the beauty of nature and the elements, new cities and countries. I want to note that fine art is not necessarily film, but also digital, and the second option is closer to me. My photos are about love and inspiration - weddings and families, stories for two and portraits of women, and also with my pictures I try to convey the beautiful everyday that I see and feel. I live in Moscow, but I can’t imagine myself without constant travel — this is my inspiration, my fresh air, and I’m always glad to fly anywhere in the world for beautiful shots.”

professionalism, punctuality and highest quality each project- this is how Roman characterizes his work. He prefers an American approach to filming and fine art style, and also believes that the best shots are obtained only in an easy, relaxed atmosphere, so he strives to work with couples who are close to him in temperament and are interested in good photos no less than himself.

“At every meeting with clients, I talk about the importance of proper wedding day planning. Firstly, your comfort depends on it, namely the ability to avoid stress on the day of the celebration, and, secondly, the quality of wedding photographs,” notes Roman.

He considers the main thing in his work creating a relaxing atmosphere for couples to look great and casual.

“Photography has long been a way of life and thinking for me. Anything that can help make each picture better - whether it's painting, psychology, directing, or any visual art— subjected to long and scrupulous study. Beautiful moment combined with delicate palette of film frames and the sun - that's what makes photography special.

Recently, Vitaly has filmed in more than 15 European countries and sees no reason to stop. Good knowledge of English, communication skills and the ability to find a common language with everyone is Vitaly's main strong point when traveling around the world.

We are used to the fact that fashion is fleeting and capricious. A few years ago, the abundance of sequins, rhinestones and Swarovski crystals was considered an indicator of taste and wealth, but today, on the contrary, it is stigmatized for bad taste and lack of style. But along with the trends that change with the seasons, there are classics that are eternal and beautiful today, tomorrow, always. What is a classic? First of all, these are eternal human values and their glorification in artistic genres. We see on the canvases, for example, Vermeer and other classical masters of the golden age of painting, nobility, restraint, modesty, kindness - in fact, those qualities that give a person this elusive inner glow. It is this that makes the hero of a classic work handsome and charismatic, despite the peculiarities of his appearance. Most likely, it is in this kinship and closeness to the classics, as well as in the ability to convey such ephemeral nuances, that the success of wedding fine art photography lies.

Photographer - Jose Villa

Fine art style, it would seem, is very young, because its founder Jose Villa, a young American photographer, began to win the whimsical heart of the global wedding industry just a few years ago. However, the maximum closeness of this style to the classical canons of art and the use of the laws of classical painting, sculpture and architecture in fine art make it a dear and dearly beloved grandson of the classics. Fine art photographers work mainly with film photography. It is believed that it conveys natural light much better than digital photography. In general, light is the main source of inspiration for fine art. He is always in the frame, he acts not just as a background, but as a real participant in the filming process, and it is he who creates this magical enchanting effect of a photograph-picture, a photograph-a small masterpiece.

Photographer - Maxim Koliberdin

There are not as many open emotions in fine art photos as we have become accustomed to over the years of the trend for bright super emotional wedding shots with active newlyweds in the spotlight. But to say that there are no feelings in fine art photography would be a huge mistake. They are not so obvious, yes, rather hidden, multi-level, veiled, but this does not make them any less strong and exciting. Emotions of fine art in the depths of the gaze, in sensual poses, in a random gust of wind blowing the hem of a flying dress. They need to be considered, guessed, included in this game, and even, perhaps, solve some riddle. All this is again an echo of classical art and a game of beads with eternal concepts of beauty, style, grace.

Fine art, in addition to film, light and a strong internal emotional charge, has another original weapon that can melt almost any heart that is not alien to beauty. These are the details. In fine art shooting, details and decor occupy almost a third of the total final material. With the help of details, a story is told, its outline is built and its uniqueness is demonstrated. Flowers, embellishments, calligraphy, decorative pieces, fabrics and ribbons all become puzzle pieces that the decorator puts together on the set, thereby creating an absolutely original and unique picture. Therefore, fine art shooting is always the work of a team, where each professional has his own role and his own plan of action, but at the same time, a common clear idea and understanding of what this particular story is about, what is its inner charm and charm, for whom it is told and what it will look like in the final.

It is difficult to find today a specialist in the wedding field who has not heard of fine art photographers and photographs, this direction is now experiencing a real explosion of popularity.

Fine art photographers become an advantage when organizing decor master classes, a feature of the organizers and a dream of many newlyweds. Let's take a closer look at this topic!

Let's start with the fact that fine art is a whole direction visual arts, including painting, for example, and not exclusively wedding photos in pastel colors.

Fine art is an artistic, creative depiction of reality. Typically, wedding photography is a reportage work, which consists in a beautiful fixation of the most important points wedding day. Fine art, on the other hand, is mainly staged shots with a search for interesting textures, lines, plasticity, geometry, and unusual light.

That is, in principle, any author's photoset with its own idea and embodiment can be artistic fine art, but the current trend of fine art photography has nevertheless acquired several noticeable features by which we can identify this style in the works of the photographer:

  • pastel shades
  • Lightness, sophistication
  • abundance of light
  • Emphasis on details, non-classical portraits

All this was inspired by film photography with its unique color reproduction, but now the photographer can also use a digital camera, achieving the desired “tube” effect later in graphic editors.

In professional discussions, photographers often argue about whether a fine art photograph is the result of work and a decorator, including, or no additions are needed for true “artistry”. In my opinion, it depends entirely on the skill of the photographer. A real fine art pro will be able to capture a masterpiece without decor at all, using only the geometry of the body and light.

Decorators themselves are interested in such tender and bright photographs of their work, since decor is not an end in itself, it is just a way to emphasize the history of a couple. And here the question arises, how can a photographer be interested in creating a cool portfolio at the forefront of the trend.

The main requirement is harmony and lightness. Everything should be combined with each other: decor, outfits, background. The more interesting and subtler all this is interconnected, the more solid and tender the photos will turn out.

In addition, I advise you to focus on what the leading fine art photographers choose for their master classes.

As you can see, the main thing is to breathe in the same style with the photographer, understand his idea, maintain the desired palette of shades.

What do you think, colleagues? Have you ever worked on fine art shoots? Tell us about your experience.

Fine Art wedding photography has become very popular in recent years. And there is nothing surprising in this :)) Newlyweds receive incredibly original, tender and beautiful pictures into a European-class album, but the photographer has a beautiful portfolio! 🙂 This style came to us from behind a hillock and immediately conquered everyone. Many may ask: “What is the difference between Fine Art and ordinary wedding photography?” Apart from the careful organization and work of a huge team, cool preparation, concept and general style - nothing 🙂 After all, a professional in his field, that is, a wedding photographer in Odessa (and not only Odessa) will take cool pictures without all this, but you must admit that a well-developed style and images win against the backdrop of a shabby entrance and add magic to your own wedding pictures!

We succumbed to the temptation and accepted the invitation of the guys - Irina and Alexei Kupriyanov to attend their workshop on the concept of Fine Art shooting. We can say that it was they who became the founders of this style here in Odessa 🙂 Therefore, we needed to learn and gain knowledge from such photographers! We don’t know how the guys withstood us with a bunch of questions, because the workshop brought together not beginners, but professionals in their field!

With this shooting, the guys showed us that it is not necessary to run around five hundred places in the city with your tongue hanging out on your wedding day in order to create a story of your love and diversify your wedding album with beautiful and magical pictures. We came to one place, but we beat four stories in the photos!

You know, we often see in people's posts that photographers are deceivers, they make beautiful shots thanks to experienced models who work at workshops. they say, ordinary people are not capable of such emotions. Such nonsense, isn't it?! :)) Plus, our couple - Maryana and Lyosha got married a month later. So the story of their love is real, fabulous and incredibly tender!

The organization of the workshop was highest level, we can say that we dreamed of working in such a professional team, where everyone does their job 500%! Mariana's dress was tailor-made for our shoot by the talented Anastasia Bozhko, and the bride's stylist was Kristina Boginskaya.

In the past, we talked about the fact that not the decor is the main thing in the frame, but the emotions of people. So, don't think that we are contradicting ourselves by praising the work of decorators here. In this shooting, nothing distracts from the love of the guys, from the happiness that can be seen in the photographs. Even the colossal work of the decorators only slightly complemented the naturalness of the atmosphere that was on the set with colors.

Although it was hot that day, we were in ecstasy from such a shooting! :)) Everything was so perfect that I wanted to hug and kiss everyone! And you know, not only the concept of shooting was ideal, but the fact that everything was “relaxed”, as Tolik sometimes says. No one ran and was nervous that they had to go to another place, no one was in a hurry to be in time and not be late for the banquet .. Yes, I know, you, the future brides, now boiled over at this place with thoughts “Well, this was not a wedding !" Let's open the secret, Irina and Alexei have such shootings on their wedding day! When newlyweds realize that this is their day, their story and their love without all the distractions! On their filming, it is clear that the lovers do not think about cutlets at the banquet, or did the bus arrive at the restaurant, and did anyone meet this bus? 🙂 Shooting in Fine Art style implies harmony in shooting and calmness!

The airy bouquet, boutonniere and incredibly perfect wreath were made by Happy Doll Wedding Agency! Beautiful, right?

We added a little Ukrainian colors of our flag to the shots, it came out in an original way! And this sky is so incredible with fluffy clouds!

Fine Art means refinement in the frame, calmness, even sometimes strictness in poses. Foreign photographers sometimes go too far with this and in the photographs it seems that this is a photograph of a divorce, and not a wedding in this style :)) And since we love real emotions and smiles, we got more “smiles” than shots, as it should be shoot in Fine Art style 🙂

As in that song, yes: “Love is in the air!” :)) When we descended from heaven, the water was waiting for us beautiful decoration from Happy Doll Wedding Agency.

Without our pens and tokens with gizmos in our hands, nowhere :)) Here a simplified version came out, lacking the old-fashioned hands of the groom and rings 🙂 But it turned out so beautifully! :)) This angle fell in love with our colleagues :))

Happy Doll created a beautiful table setting for the newlyweds! It was nice to shoot the decoration when the food did not fall on all the beauty and did not clog the decoration itself. And even at sunset, the guys are such sunny bunnies! :) And the glass on the table is so cast with golden pollen!

We filmed the sunset shooting near the water with an original arch for the outdoor ceremony. I think the guys had a great rehearsal before the wedding day! They are magical!

When we returned to the table, another surprise awaited us - an awesome wedding cake from Marina Polishchuk! Did you notice how everything fits together in this shoot? 🙂 By the way, at the end we ate the cake together! And while we were eating goodies, vicious mosquitoes were eating us! :))

With this shoot, we would like to say that one should not only dream of such magical shots and drool over foreign pictures from Pinterest. With this shooting, we wanted to show that a fairy tale is possible in Odessa, that there are professionals here who will bring this fairy tale to life! And after all, you and I can make it so that foreign brides, in search of ideas for their wedding, would save pictures from your beautiful wedding day! 🙂 And it is your carefully organized wedding that will inspire and exemplify thousands of future brides! Love and beautiful wedding to all!

Irina and Alexey Kupriyanov, as well as the whole team of professionals, from us many thanks for showing the fairy tale and the possibility of bringing it to life!

With love, Tolik and Yulia!

If the trend is not important for the photographer, if he really sees and feels this way, then he and his photograph can be called real.

Basics

Photography is not color, light, composition or pose, it is a product of many elements that give birth to a single whole. What makes you look at her again and again, look for and find something of your own. Any kind of art is something subjective, you can’t love something that you don’t understand, you don’t feel. Also photography. If it makes the viewer feel, then it touches the right strings inside him and was not created in vain.

I most often respond to works made in the fine art style, be it photography or painting. This style is better than others to convey plasticity and volume, light, softness of lines, their harmony and non-conflict.

What is fine art photography?

Fine art is not a staging or a reportage. In the classical sense of fine art, photography has nothing to do with film, wedding or decor at all. It is rather a technique of using light and color in the frame, building a composition, arranging dominant and weak notes in the overall picture. In a word, everything that makes the elements in the frame sound like music.

Fine art is the ability to make simple things beautiful. Today we are talking about the fine art style in wedding photography, the trendsetter of which is Jose Villa. At least he claims so. We will not argue, he really was the first photographer to use this name for his work.

What makes this style different from others?

First of all - the inner taste, sense of style, the desire for beauty and the level of visual education. This is much more important than finding the right color or a ready-made preset, because color is only one of the elements, you also need to learn how to feel it. For example, in reportage shooting, it is not so important. Color does not affect the genre, it only helps to identify the author. At the same time, wedding fine art photography has its own standards that help the viewer immediately highlight such pictures, and color and light are the primary visual features.

back side

Of course, we immediately get the downside of such standardization - the lack of individuality. The same thing happened with the popular vsco filters and the kinfolk style - they all became the same. Therefore, the photographer must learn to jump above these standards and stand out with other qualities - taste, sense of style - i.e. secondary signs, which will become his hallmark. At the same time, he shoots on film, on a digital or on a matchbox, it no longer matters.

Style is timeless

Many people think that wedding fine art is about certain poses and static. I believe that this opinion is formed due to the numerous stylized shootings, which are very similar to each other. Getting a decent result in sterile conditions is much easier: professional models, decorators, time and place with good light - and you don't even have to be a wedding photographer.

This is the reverse side of the genre - visually it is easy to copy. Although preparation for really inspiring stylized shootings can sometimes be as long and painstaking as preparing for a wedding. it big job and thanks to such shootings, wedding culture rises, brides and vendors of the wedding industry draw their inspiration from them. After all, fine art photography is the quintessence of the demands of most brides, and I would call this style ideal for wedding photography, a timeless style.
