The tradition of celebrating Entrepreneur's Day in Russia began not so long ago, but every year more and more people who are professionally engaged in this type of activity celebrate this holiday. It is worth noting that entrepreneurs with great care are preparing for this event, therefore, the Day of the Russian Entrepreneur will not be an exception.

History of Entrepreneur's Day

Since ancient times, people have been practicing various types activities based on their own initiative and huge risk. With each century, this type of activity developed more and more and gained popularity, because, in cases of success, it brought both huge incomes and some social effect. Today, when the market economy is at its dawn, entrepreneurial activity is the important basis that allows the world economy to develop quickly and qualitatively.

As for Russia, it is worth noting that modern entrepreneurship began to develop only in the early 90s. This was facilitated by the collapse Soviet Union, and as a result, taking a course towards the development of market relations.

Entrepreneurship did not become popular in the Soviet Union because the main emphasis at that time was placed exclusively on state enterprises rather than private activity. Therefore, support was received exclusively by enterprises with state form property. As a result, entrepreneurship did not have the opportunity to develop qualitatively in such conditions.

The first step that allowed entrepreneurs to officially engage in such activities was the adoption in 1987 of a law that regulated the foundations of cooperation. According to the provisions of this act, individuals were given the opportunity to freely work independently. They could either create enterprises or engage in individual activities.

This law gave only an impetus to the development of entrepreneurship, but such activity acquired a truly massive character only a few years later. In the early 90s, Russia, like many other countries that gained independence, took a course towards a market economy. In this regard, entrepreneurial activity has become the basis for the development of the state, and therefore, began to receive all kinds of support from it.

Holiday status - Entrepreneur's Day

The official date of approval of the holiday at the state level is October 18, 2007. Consolidation at the level of legal acts occurred through the adoption of the relevant presidential decree, which displayed the final date of the celebration. It is worth noting that the name of the holiday, familiar to citizens, as Entrepreneur's Day, does not comply with the provisions of the decree, since the official name is Entrepreneurship Day.

As for the question of what date and when Entrepreneur's Day will be celebrated in 2017, the following is worth noting. According to the provisions of the already known decree, the date of the celebration is unchanged. Therefore, May 26 is the official Entrepreneurship Day. Despite the fact that this professional holiday has acquired the status of a state holiday, officially this day is not a day off.

Ways to celebrate Entrepreneur's Day in Russia

The peculiarity of the Day of Entrepreneurship lies also in the ways of its celebration. So, the following methods can be distinguished.

  • firstly, the organization of events where entrepreneurs gather to take stock of their activities over the past year.
  • secondly, ceremonial meetings with entrepreneurs organized by authorities, both local and central levels. the main objective these meetings - to celebrate individuals who excel in entrepreneurship. For this, various valuable gifts, diplomas, or cash prizes are awarded to the best.
  • thirdly, seminars, trainings and other forms of meetings, which reveal the basics of entrepreneurial activity. Often, such events are organized by enterprises that have already achieved great results and are the best among the best, or by authorities. Such meetings also help to make new acquaintances and find partners.

Do not forget about entrepreneurs from other countries. They attend specially organized meetings and other events, and share foreign experience business.

The celebration of Entrepreneurship Day is a combination of pleasant and useful. And it is not surprising, because businessmen know that their time is, first of all, a limited resource that must be used rationally. Therefore, Entrepreneur's Day in 2017 also promises to be interesting, eventful and useful not only for beginner businessmen, but also for business sharks.

Entrepreneur's Day in other countries

It is worth noting that Russia is not the only country in which such a holiday was established. And this is not surprising, because entrepreneurship, as a bright phenomenon of the world economy, is developing all over the world.

So, in Ukraine this holiday has been established since 1998. On October 5, a decree of the President of Ukraine was adopted, from the moment it came into force, entrepreneurs received a holiday officially fixed at the state level. The peculiarity of this holiday in Ukraine is that there is no fixed date for the celebration. So, entrepreneurs celebrate their professional holiday on the first Sunday of September.

In Azerbaijan, the Day of Entrepreneurs appeared relatively recently. So, in 2016, an order of the President of this country was signed, which established the holiday of entrepreneurs. The date of the celebration, as in Russia, is fixed, but different, namely April 25th.

Every year our country celebrates Day Russian entrepreneurship , established by Decree of the President of Russia of 2007 No. 1381 "On the Day of Russian Entrepreneurship".

Thus, another professional holiday was established, although, as you know, Russian entrepreneurs have always served the state diligently. Here it is worth mentioning the entrepreneurs-armourers of the Demidov dynasty and the founder of the Morozov dynasty Savva Morozov, merchants and industrialists Eliseevs and Stroganovs.

It is noteworthy that the right to entrepreneurial activity is a constitutional right of every citizen of our country, which is enshrined in Article 34 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

But even earlier, in the era of the existence of the Soviet Union, in accordance with the USSR Law "On Individual labor activity» dated 1986, entrepreneurial activity acquired legal status for the first time.

Later, in the Law of the Russian Federation "On Enterprises and Entrepreneurial Activities" of 1990, the right of citizens to conduct entrepreneurial activities was enshrined. It was agreed that entrepreneurship can be carried out individually, without applying wage labor, and create businesses that can hire employees.

According to Rosstat, today in Russia there are more than 4.5 million business entities of small and medium-sized businesses, of which almost 40% are employed in the wholesale and retail, repair of motor vehicles and household products. In second place in popularity among small businesses are operations with real estate and rent (21.1%), more than 11% of small enterprises belong to the construction sector. A little more than 10% of domestic small businesses are employed in the mining and manufacturing industries, and approximately 6% of small enterprises are employed in the transport and communications sector.

Despite the difficulties of the crisis, pressure from the authorities and great competition, entrepreneurship in the field of small and medium-sized businesses in our country is characterized by great dynamism of development. Therefore, measures to support it have become one of the priorities of the Russian government. For example, in 2013, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on commissioners to protect the rights of entrepreneurs in Russia. According to this document, the main tasks of the Commissioner, appointed for five years, are to protect the rights and legitimate interests of entrepreneurs, control over the observance of their rights by state authorities and local government, promoting the development of public institutions focused on protecting the rights of entrepreneurs and interacting with the business community, as well as participating in the formation and implementation of state policy in this area.

And today, as part of the Entrepreneurship Day, various exhibitions, company presentations, training seminars and consultations, trainings, round tables and other events dedicated to the problems and achievements of small and medium-sized businesses, and the development of entrepreneurship in general are held.

Who has achieved everything himself,
All alone -
This holiday is just for you.
Entrepreneur's Day!

May all your undertakings
No problem and no worries
meet expectations,
Bring income to the family.

Let the crisis not touch you
Let the side pass
Let everything in life succeed
And in everything you are always lucky!

Russian Entrepreneurship Day is celebrated on May 26. This is a very young holiday, established by order of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin in 2007. The initiative to hold the holiday was gladly supported by the unions of entrepreneurs and industrialists from all regions of Russia.

Entrepreneurship development in the Russian Federation

The need to introduce a professional holiday, Entrepreneurship Day, was obvious. Immediately after the start of perestroika, small cooperatives began to be organized in the USSR, and then enough large companies and enterprises carrying out independent economic activity. In 1991, the Law “On Enterprises and Entrepreneurial Activity” was adopted, which finally secured the right of any citizen of the country to open, as individual business, and commercial enterprise with the involvement of employees.

In the modern period of time in Russia there are hundreds of thousands of small, medium, big business, cooperatives, open and closed companies, whose activities are controlled by the Entrepreneurial Law. Private companies are represented in almost all areas of services: trade, intermediary, manufacturing, credit and financial and service.

Without a doubt, entrepreneurship is the most important lever of any market economy. Prominent economists in the United States and Europe (such as Joseph Schumpeter, Ludwig von Mises, Frank Knight) considered successful entrepreneurial activity as one of the main resources for fast and sustainable development economy of any state.

Traditions of the Russian Entrepreneurship Day

It would be unfair to believe that the traditions of Russian entrepreneurship originate only in the early 90s of the 20th century. Of course, in the USSR, private entrepreneurial activity was banned, but such prominent entrepreneurs and industrialists as S.I. Mamontov, I.S. Morozov, S.S. Polyakov made an invaluable contribution to economic growth Russian Empire, the result of which was an extraordinary industrial boom of the mid-19th century, which brought Russia to the world leaders.

Traditionally, on May 26, the professional Entrepreneur's Day is celebrated by representatives of both small and large businesses in Russia. As part of the holiday, presentations of new products and services, seminars on the exchange of experience, business trainings, corporate evenings and other festive events are held.

This holiday is celebrated every year on May 26. The founders of private companies are related to this holiday. It is celebrated by colleagues, relatives and friends. Another such day is celebrated by teachers and students of those educational institutions which provide training in economics.

history of the holiday

It was first noted in 2007. Vladimir Putin as President Russian Federation, by his decree decided to hold a professional holiday. The President noted that entrepreneurship is not an easy task, it is a difficult everyday work. Weekends at individual entrepreneurs are infrequent. May 26 has become a kind of encouragement for small and medium-sized businesses. But the origins of this holiday should not even be sought in the late 80s. of the last century, when democracy, freedom and openness came.

Everything happened much earlier. The names of some enterprising Russians have been known for several hundred years. One of the brightest personalities are the Demidov brothers. When the Bolsheviks came to power, they began to impose their own special ideology. As soon as someone decided to become an entrepreneur, this idea was “cut in the bud”. None recognized by law private business.

It was only in 1986 that a decision was made to hold an Entrepreneurship Day, but until 1990 there were no movements in this direction. It was at this time in the USSR that entrepreneurship was legalized at the official level. Today, anyone can become a private entrepreneur. In the national Constitution, this right is enshrined in every citizen.

An entrepreneur or a businessman is the same profession as, say, a doctor or a metallurgist. It is not surprising that representatives of this field of activity have their own professional holiday. About the date of Entrepreneur's Day in 2019, about the traditions of the holiday and its appearance - in our article.

the date

Unlike many professional holidays, Entrepreneur's Day does not have a floating, but a fixed date in the holiday calendar. This means that regardless of the year, we celebrate it on the same day - May 26th. The holiday refers to working days, that is, it is not included in the number of official days off. Therefore, we will rest only if the celebration falls on Saturday or Sunday.

Holiday start

The date of the holiday has a logical justification - it was on this day, May 26, back in 1987, that the law "On Cooperation" was issued - the first form of private (individual) entrepreneurship in the USSR. In memory of this important event, which marked the beginning of Russian business, the date of Entrepreneur's Day in Russia was chosen.

Initially, private business in the USSR was out of the question. The planned economy model did not include individual entrepreneurship - only state production could exist within the framework of such a model. With the onset of perestroika, there was a need for small companies that could meet the immediate demand of the population. To cover this need, it was decided to allow the creation of cooperatives - the first private production associations. It is their activities that are regulated by the law, in honor of which the date of the holiday is chosen. The first cooperatives led to the emergence in our country of individual entrepreneurship - small and medium-sized businesses.

As world practice has shown, economic development is impossible without the progressive development of private entrepreneurship. The competitive environment, the expansion of the market, the development of various industries, the creation of new jobs, the planning and development of the tax base - all this rests on the shoulders of those people whom we today call businessmen.

Holiday today

Entrepreneurship is a complex, difficult and very responsible job, in which no days off are expected. Therefore, businessmen celebrate their own holiday in a special way - with discussions, round tables, business events. After all, even such a solemn occasion as Entrepreneur's Day can be turned into a business meeting or the signing of a new contract.

As a rule, a whole list of various events is timed to coincide with the holiday: conferences, forums, congresses. Often, as part of a business day, master classes are held where venerable businessmen share their experience with the new generation. Meetings of the “state and business” format are obligatory, that is, representatives of city administrations, officials of various departments and entrepreneurs.

In many regions, on a holiday, the results of competitions for the title of the best entrepreneur are summed up. In the nominations, as a rule, there are such positions as "the best female entrepreneur", "the best philanthropist", "the best novice businessman" and so on. Representatives of various segments and industries are awarded, beginners and already experienced businessmen who have been on the market for many years are singled out. The prizes are certificates and commendations from the government of the region, certainly flowers and valuable gifts. The whole event ends with a small buffet.

A bit of history

How private business appeared, and who was the first entrepreneur, is not known for certain, and it is unlikely that this information will ever be heard from the lips of historians. However, today it is firmly established that there were variations of entrepreneurship in ancient Egypt - in the code of laws of Hammurabi there is a mention of punishment for negligent merchants who deceived their customers.

The Middle Ages, and then the new time, made it possible to form the basis of all world entrepreneurship - private trade and private production. Merchants and industrialists have become the backbone of individual business, they are the basis on which the economy of many states is built - primarily in Europe and America.

Our time gives a lot of opportunities to create your own business. It is no longer necessary to join a guild, like medieval merchants, there is no need to invest huge amounts of money, like industrialists of the century before last. It is enough just the knowledge that everyone takes out of school and university, and desire - and the last, perhaps, the most important thing.
