Nowadays, the profession of "janitor" has already become familiar. Job description of such an employee is drawn up in accordance with all the rules and contains a list of duties that a person of this profession must perform.

Main qualities

The essence of this work is contained in the very name of the profession. Such a person must monitor the state of the yard, that is, maintain order and cleanliness in the territory entrusted to him. Who is this janitor? The job description provides all the necessary explanations in this regard. It lists the duties of the employee, his rights and the responsibility that he bears while in his place.

But it does not say anything about who can apply for such a vacancy. Based on the features of this work, it should be noted that this should be a person:

  • careful,
  • honest,
  • responsible,
  • physically hardy,
  • good-natured,
  • one who is in good health.

Every normal janitor should have all these qualities. The job description says nothing about this. But any employer is obliged to select such an employee for this job. Only then can he be sure that the territory entrusted to him will really be in perfect order.

Mandatory Rights

Some consider the janitor an absolutely powerless person who can be pushed around by everyone who is not lazy. This statement is fundamentally wrong. Only those who have absolutely no idea of the essence of labor relations can think so. What rights does a janitor have? The job description states that during the performance of his duties he has every right to:

  1. When receiving tasks from his immediate superiors, demand that he be explained everything in detail and provide full information about the work to be performed.
  2. Make adjustments to your actions and suggest possible solutions to problems.
  3. Demand that he be given full cooperation and all possible assistance in organizational matters relating to his work.

All these rights are absolutely legal and must be taken into account by the employer. The management of the enterprise is obliged to strictly ensure that the employee can take advantage of each of the listed opportunities.

Work in progress

It must be borne in mind that the duties of a janitor depend in part on who is his employer. For example, people who monitor the state of the territory of the bank or construction site, do not exactly the same job. But in many ways their functions are similar.

If we talk about the profession in general, then the duties of a janitor are as follows:

  1. Remove (sweep) dust, leaves and other debris.
  2. Place the waste collected by him in special containers or other places designated for this.
  3. In winter, break ice, collect snow and help with loading it into trucks.
  4. Sprinkle sidewalks and footpaths during the period of ice with the means given to him for this (sand or chemicals).
  5. Clean and mow the lawns available on its territory.
  6. Water the flower beds and keep them in order.
  7. Maintain cleanliness in trash cans and other containers.
  8. If necessary, carry out painting of benches and benches located at the facility.
  9. Monitor the condition of the sewer and clean the existing drains.

All this must be done in a timely manner so as not to create unnecessary problems for other employees.

Prestigious job?

In our time, many have not learned to respect the work of the janitor. Although several centuries ago this profession was held in high esteem. True, the duties were somewhat different. Even before the revolution, a janitor was considered a person who not only ensured cleanliness on the street, but also kept order in the yard entrusted to him. Each such worker even had a whistle, with which it was possible to call the police to resolve the conflict. These people were respected and treated with respect. City officials even gave out medals to those who performed their jobs better than others.

This kind of encouragement gave importance to the janitor and made him not just a garbage collector, but a real owner of the yard. Only through him the main organizational issues regarding the repair were resolved. This man was aware of absolutely everything that was going on in his house. It is not for nothing that monuments to people of this profession have been erected in many cities of Russia. They symbolize a tribute to society and a special appreciation for conscientious, but very hard work.

Technical equipment

Usually, the cleaning of the territory by a janitor is done manually using the simplest technical means. As a rule, this is a shovel, broom, rake, bucket, brush, crowbar and ice scraper. What prestige can a person who constantly has to drag dusty bags of garbage talk about? And all this has to be done on the street in any weather. Now, in many countries, they decided to make the work of janitors easier by giving them special units and harvesting mechanisms to help them.

Such machines take on the most difficult functions, while maintaining not only the health of the janitor, but also his working time. But in order to handle such mechanisms, one must have some training. Sometimes this is noted in the job descriptions as a separate item. But not every company is able to provide its employees with such innovations, so in most cases, janitors work the old fashioned way. True, now in every city specialized enterprises have begun to form that have the necessary equipment and provide cleaning services to those who need their help.

Public service worker

Most people associate this profession with housing and communal services. The janitor is the one they see every day. Now no one will be surprised if he notices a man in an orange vest near his house.

No one pays attention to him, but they remember him only when there is any shortcoming. For example, uncleared paths on an early winter morning or heaps of yellowed leaves underfoot. That's when everyone starts to resent the poor performance of housing and communal services and talk about negligent janitors.

But here it all depends on the employee himself. He must realize the importance of his work. After all, the appearance of not only individual streets and courtyards, but the whole city as a whole depends on the quality of his work. In recent years, there has been a tendency to increase the number of cities and towns, and this, accordingly, leads to an increase in territories that constantly need to be kept in order. This means that more janitors are required, which makes the profession itself more in demand.

We bring to your attention a typical example of a janitor job description, a sample of 2017 - 2018. A person can be appointed to this position without presenting requirements for education and work experience. The job description should contain a detailed, detailed description of everything that a housing and communal services janitor should do at his workplace.

The job structure of the janitor of the housing and communal services is as follows:

  • general provisions;
  • official duties;
  • rights;
  • a responsibility.

It is important for the employer to know that there can be no requirements for the degree of education or experience for the applicant for this job position. What are the duties of a janitor of housing and communal services? The main job responsibilities are as follows:

  • cleaning of the assigned territory;
  • cleaning sidewalks and paths from snow, ice, as well as sprinkling them with sand;
  • maintenance in the working (cleaned) condition of drainage trays, channels, as well as fire pits;
  • emptying urns from garbage, with periodic washing;
  • sweep and remove leaves in autumn;
  • caring for green spaces - watering, loosening, trimming, etc .;
  • in spring and summer, water sidewalks, paths, pavements;
  • maintaining the cleanliness of entrances, stairs, as well as maintaining the integrity and inviolability of all common property.

The janitor reports to the master of housing and communal services and the manager, he can receive tasks from them directly, and if it is necessary to urgently eliminate the consequences of a fire, water flood or other accident, he will be redirected to the place where his help is needed.

It is this employee who is obliged to report to the management about the disorder he noticed, and has the right to suggest ways to fix the problem.

The janitor must also comply with the norms and rules adopted for all housing and communal services workers - to prevent absenteeism, failure to comply with the instructions of the management, comply with the requirements of safety and labor protection, fire and sanitary standards.

Territory cleaning standards

Heavy physical load in the performance of official duties as a housing and communal services janitor should be limited to the area that this employee can master.

The norms for cleaning the territory for the janitor of housing and communal services are regulated by the following legislative acts:

  1. Order of the Gosstroy of the Russian Federation of December 9, 1999 N 139.
  2. Decree of the Gosstroy of the Russian Federation No. 170 of September 27, 2003.
  3. Decree of the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation of June 24, 1996 N 38.

It turned out that the standards labor activity cleaner housing and communal services - this is a whole science.

For example, sidewalks are divided into classes, depending on the congestion of the road:

  • 1st class, if no more than 50 people pass in both directions in 1 hour;
  • 2nd class, when the intensity of pedestrian traffic is in the range from 50 to 100 people. in hour;
  • 3rd grade - more than 100 people will pass within 1 hour.

Sidewalks crowded with people are difficult to clean without interfering with pedestrians, it is more convenient to sweep and water them early in the morning or late in the evening, while the area of a different intensity class needs different cleaning frequencies.

Since the work of the janitor was still manual, the norm of the area to be cleaned is still taken to be 500 m2 - precisely to be cleaned, and not the total.

Salary level

Despite the fact that the work of a cleaner is hard, public, that is, in plain sight and regardless of weather conditions, the salary level of this category of housing and communal services leaves much to be desired.

So, in 2016 in Moscow, the salary of a janitor was no more than 15-16 thousand rubles, and in the periphery it did not exceed 8 thousand rubles. per month.

It is the level of wages that keeps people from wanting to become janitors. In addition, short-sighted managers often demand that the janitor be on the territory assigned to him from 8-00 to 17-00.

Those employers who allow the janitor to divide his working time into morning and evening hours act more wisely.

In this case, even before the mass exit of residents to work, leaves, snow can be removed from sidewalks and paths, which is more pleasant for people and prevents the snow from compacting, making cleaning difficult. Those public service workers who make our yards cleaner, and our common property more well-groomed and unharmed, should be treated with more respect than we are used to, and their hard and thankless work should be appreciated at its true worth.

The rights of the janitor are as follows:

  • obtain the necessary tools and materials for work;
  • require the provision of premises for the storage of materials and tools, as well as the creation of normal working conditions;
  • submit proposals to the management regarding the better organization of labor, the improvement of their labor activity;
  • demand familiarization with the housing and communal services documents relating to his duties and rights, as well as the terms of payment and bonuses.

With regard to liability, the janitor must be held accountable for failure to perform his duties, as well as if he commits an offense of any kind. The cleaner will be liable according to the law even if his actions cause material harm to the enterprise.

General provisions regarding the position of a janitor include:

  1. Appointed and dismissed from office directly.
  2. obeys boss production department, or the head of the department for work with objects of service.

Must know:

  • rules for sanitary and hygienic service;
  • the size of the area assigned to it;
  • instructions for the work carried out by him;
  • rules and safe methods of using materials, detergents and cleaning agents;
  • telephones and addresses of emergency services;
